Letter from the President, Board of Directors, to Museum Members

Dear Members,

Happy New Year!

In reviewing what WE, the Board of Directors and the Museo members, have accomplished in 2005, I believe WE should be very proud of ourselves: we have paid most of the enormous debt assumed in September 2004 and, by aggressive fundraising and expense cutting, we now have a modest reserve.

We are back on track with our various programs:
Organized lectures, Italian movies and musical programs
Italian Language program with new courses in addition to the basic ones
C.I.A.O. (Children Italian Art Outreach) offered free to schools attracting hundreds of students for VIVA OPERA! in May, the GATES OF PARADISE art project in September and October and the live performance of Giancarlo Menotti's opera AMAHL AND THE NIGHT VISITORS in December.

At our annual membership meeting on November 9, 2005 the members in attendance elected the slate of the Board of Directors for 2006 for the first time in the Museo's existence due to changes in our bylaws.

A very special GRAZIE must go to the Museo Auxiliary, which raised an unprecedented $30,000 through their various fundraisers.

And, GRAZIE to EVVIVA! members who organized one of the most successful Risotto Cook-offs to date.

With all this great news much more remains to be done:
We need a curator
We need more publicity
We need to increase our membership.

Most importantly, we need to increase our membership. Our goal for 2006 is a 30% increase from the present 500 members. WE CAN DO IT! Let's ask our families, friends and acquaintances to join our dynamic organization where you learn, you have fun and you meet new, interesting friends!

I wish you a happy, healthy and prosperous 2006!

BUON ANNO,

Sandra Bagnatori
