THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT… Please check back for more exciting food and wine events in the future.

Renato Sardo will present an illustrated lecture on the beautiful region of Piemonte and its famous Slow Food movement, with wine-and-cheese pairings.

Learn the very Piemontese story of Slow Food, a grassroots organization founded in 1986 to oppose the opening of a MacDonald’s near the Spanish Steps in Rome, which has grown into a global movement to prevent the disappearance of local food cultures and traditions. Discover and taste some Piemontese wines (the legendary Barolo, Barbaresco, Barbera and Moscato, to name a few) and the celebrated alpine cheeses that created the fertile environment for the inception of this movement.

Northwest Italy, surrounded by the Alps and Appennines, has the highest number of artisanal cheeses in the world – a whopping 22% are protected by DOP (Denomination of Origins) – and hosts the most important artisanal cheese event in the world: the Cheese Festival in Bra. If you add in the legendary truffles from Alba, it’s easy to understand how Piemonte is destined to become more and more a destination for foodies worldwide.

Mr. Sardo, who was Director of Slow Food International in the early 2000s, was born and raised in Bra, the small town in Southern Piemonte located at the gates of the Langhe and Roero wine districts, where the Slow Food movement is still headquartered.

Museo Members: $10 | non-members $12
Includes tastings of three Piemontesi wines, paired with DOP cheeses
