Please join us for the closing reception of Wine Art Abruzzo, with a very special tasting of Abruzzese wines, Slow Food Presidium cheeses and artisan specialties made by Abruzzese butchers, who will be here to cook for the event. Wine Art Abruzzo is a weekend-long program, presented by the Museo, together with Villa Italia Wines, Plasma Collection, SustainAbruzzo.org, SF Italian Athletic Club and Slow Food Presidia, in celebration of the region of Abruzzo. This central Italian region suffered a devastating series of earthquakes in the last decade with extensive damage that caused thousands of people to lose their homes and livelihoods. This event will celebrate Abruzzo’s resilient spirit through the enjoyment of its traditional foods, wines and the art of Abruzzese artist, Ester Crocetta.

Included in the tasting will be Montepulciano d’Abruzzo wines, presented by Loriano di Sabatino, Italian wine expert and president of ONAV Abruzzo, and Lorenzo Scarpone, owner of Villa Italia Gourmet Food and Wine in San Francisco, who will be pouring wines from the Scarpone family estate winery in Colli Teramane, Abruzzo.

Artisan butchers, Ercole and Stefano Fasciocco of Antica Macelleria Fasciocco in Abruzzo, will be traveling to San Francisco specifically for the weekend events. The Fasciocco brothers will provide tastings of traditional culinary Abruzzese specialties including porchetta, arrosticini, and timballo Abruzzese.

Tastings of two Slow Food Presidium cheeses, Pecorino di Farindola & Castel del Monte, will also be offered.

Come meet the artist, Ester Crocetta, whose paintings and wine labels will be on display from Friday through Sunday, November 16-18. Crocetta’s work has captured the attention of national and international Institutions of Art. She has recently exhibited at the World Art Museum in Beijing.
