b. 1962 Bronx, New YorkFranc D’Ambrosio is a self taught artist with a particular focus on both abstracted figurative and meditative abstract painting. His evolving technique of deconstructing acrylic on canvas creates a contemporary interpretation of relic sensibility. According to the artist, “I know when a painting is finished not by the amount of paint I apply, but rather by the amount of paint I remove.”D’Ambrosio is also a well-known American singer and actor, best known for his role as the "Phantom" in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Tony Award-winning Musical,
The Phantom of the Opera. He was awarded the distinction as the "World’s Longest Running Phantom," with over 2,300 performances of the lead role, a title he held for a decade. He also played the adult Anthony Corleone in The Godfather Part III.D’Ambrosio has dual American and Italian citizenship.
