The Museo Italo Americano in collaboration with Associazione Liguri nel Mondo, and with the support of the Italian Consulate General in San Francisco and the Italian Cultural Institute of San Francisco, announces a celebration of Italian Heritage Month.

On Sunday, October 6, Italian filmmaker Davide Fiore, the director of the documentary film A Little Fellow, will present a new trailer for the first film entirely dedicated to Amadeo Peter Giannini’s life, for which a crowdfunding campaign is ongoing.

Davide will tell us all about how his documentary is being made, and why he decided to dedicate several years of his life to tell the story of A.P. Giannini: the Italian man who is behind the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge, the financing of the first Walt Disney’s and Charlie Chaplin’s movies, and the founding of Bank of America. He will also present the crew he has been working with, and that is helping him make all this possible.

Q&A and reception with the director to follow.

Advance Member ticket $10 | Advance Non member ticket $15 | At the door $20
Please RSVP to 415.673.2200, info@sfmuseo.org, or reserve your ticket below, in the Booking section.

Director’s Statement:

As an Italian immigrant, having the ability to tell A.P. Giannini’s story and remember his accomplishments is highly important to me. A.P. Giannini’s life and career exemplify that he was a visionary ahead of his time. Giannini’s triumphant story of conquering prejudice at the turn of the century is especially inspiring to me at this moment when nationalistic backlash is shaping our political landscape.
A Little Fellow tells the story of Bank of America’s founder who gave a face to the banking system and revolutionized the industry by providing the poor and immigrant classes a place to put their money. By following his vision of prosperity for California, he invested in the Hollywood industry, the Golden Gate Bridge, and early Silicon Valley.
Our team is comprised of industry professionals all passionate about remembering this incredible piece of history and not allowing it to be lost to time. At the helm, the production is led by Bay Area local Anna Laclergue. By her side are producers Davide Fiore – the film’s director, Sacha Smith, and Joe Mancini – the film’s story producer.
