Evaristo Caretti: A Piemontese Sailor Becomes Postmaster General of China

This series of four lectures by Museo member, Dr. Vincent Fausone, Chinese history expert and past president of the International Chinese Snuff Bottle Society, relates to four important Italian travelers to China. Each of these Italian travelers  not only reported their knowledge of China to the West, each made unique contributions to Chinese rulers and Chinese culture: Marco Polo in the 15th century, Matteo Ricci at the end of the 16th century, Giuseppe Castiglione in the 17th century and Evaristo Caretti in the 20th century.  Each of these men not only reported their knowledge of China to the West, each made unique contributions to Chinese rulers and Chinese culture.
