The Path to the Spider’s Nests is Italo Calvino’s debut novel and was published in 1947. It tells the story of Pin, an orphaned cobbler’s apprentice who lives with his sister, a prostitute, in a town on the Ligurian coast. After stealing a pistol from a Nazi sailor, Pin searches for an identity with a partisan group.
