Imagine this sweet little bird sitting on your windowsill every morning! Imagine a whole flock of them! These chubby little birds are hand made by Murano glass masters: they manipulate various rods or canes of glass by starting with one color for the body of the bird then adding different colors for the tail, eyes, head and beak. The glass masters heat the glass to the melting point, then wind and twist the molten droplets into the desired shape. They then bake it in an oven to solidify it and fuse the various pieces together. Finally, it is shipped off the island where the birds are sand-blasted to create the satin-finish effect.
