Exploring the Italian Community by the Bay
A conversation with journalist Serena Perfetto

The San Francisco Bay Area is home to thousands of Italians who moved to the US for different reasons, at different times, and with different outcomes. They work in technology or are scientists, they navigate the food industry as restaurant owners and importers; they run construction companies or work as architects and designers.

The Bay Area has been enriched by the expertise Italians carried with them. They left the country they love to embrace a new life and career opportunities, and they won’t give up connections with other fellow Italians from the community. In this context, many associations and groups were founded, with the idea of keeping the legacy with Italy alive and giving opportunities to meet and share roots.

Serena will talk about what makes this community so vibrant, the organizations that contribute to it, and how, during the pandemic, values like strength, resilience, and solidarity shone as never before.
