The Museo Italo Americano in collaboration with Associazione Liguri nel Mondo, and with the support of the Italian Consulate General in San Francisco and the Italian Cultural Institute of San Francisco, announces a celebration of Italian Heritage Month.

On Monday, October 14th author Giorgio Alarico Chiarva will present his novel Il banchiere galantuomo (The Gentleman Banker), that tells the extraordinary story of Amadeo Peter Giannini,  founder of the Bank of America.  Born in San Jose, California in 1870 to Italian immigrants, A.P. Giannini pioneered banking practices that served “the little fellow”, funded the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge, and helped nurture the motion picture and wine industries in California.

Giorgio Chiarva was born in Verzuolo (Piemonte), Italy in 1951. After graduating with a degree in architecture, he worked for several Italian newspapers both as an administrator and as a journalist. He works now in the timber industry. He has privately published three books, including Il banchiere galantuomo.

The presentation will be in Italian with consecutive English translation. Light refreshments to follow.
